| Biography | It’s in the nature of things that expressions of the Soul are abstract truths. These expressions are I think what we all are seeking in a piece of work. I guess its this quality that would make it Fine Art. For me that would be the function of a painting. It involves an alteration in consciousness. All I can contribute here as an artist is my personal stance. My work has not evolved out of a training in technical skills, or a love of drawing, or graphics, it is a primary impulse, paint was immediately a useful medium for my purpose. The clarification of that purpose is the story of the development of my work. |
| Interests | I work towards the creation of a suitable medium for the imagination, so that it can be in a state of free-interpretation. I am a vocational artist, for me painting has always been about my relationship to truth. I have always endeavored to make true statements. This means that in my life I have had to deconstruct all technical training in order to maximise graphic freedom. This also means that when I start a piece of work I have to be clear of all preconceived notions designs colours and techniques, that is I have to be true to the moment. And then when the painting is underway it reaches a point of fluidity and seems to assert its own demands, a unique world with its own laws. |
