| Biography | My work is basically an exploration of patterns that exist all around us; for me they hold an irresistible and insatiable attraction. Looking at both geometrical and organic pattern based abstract art. I am fascinated by urban landscapes and architecture, reflections and shadows, light and negative spaces, all of which are part of our everyday visual experience, yet for many people go unnoticed. It is for that reason I choose to focus on these entities as my subject matter mainly for their formal aesthetic qualities. By abstracting and even exaggerating these details and shapes that aren?t always perceived, I hope to show how visually intriguing these patterns are when one takes the time to look at them. In the past year, I have been increasingly drawn to the imagery of city maps in my subject matter, mostly for their appearance but also as a metaphor for viewing the city as a both an organic and a cultural system.
