Interests and Personality

BiographyI graduated from art school in 1987 with a BFA and showed until about 1996. At that point I had racked up several hundred rejection letters each with a jury fee of at lest $25 associated with it. So I quit showing in public spaces. In 2007 I decided to start showing again. I do not submit to any show with a "Jury Fee" and still I have been in about 2 juried shows per month all year, no jury fees. Opportunity awaits everyone, you just need to open your eyes and smile. A positive attitude, (and good pictures) will get you to where yo want to be.
Interestshttp://www.braindeadaesthetic.com/index.html
MusicI really love bad religion. 20th century digital boy is my favorite song. Though Phillip Glass Powaqqatsi is really close. http://www.myspace.com/badreligion
FilmsUMMMMMMM Movies!!! True Romance Raising Arizona Any Johnny Depp movie but especially "Dead Man"
TelevisionInsipid, hate it, hate it, hate it, but watch it none the less.
BooksI have read so much bad SF (good SF as well) that I would go with L Ron Hubbards Decology which was published (and written) after his death, though i have not read it. "Battle Field Earth" had a seven hundred page dry spell in the middle of the book and there were still over five hundred pages. All of Steven Brust's work are fab, especially "the sun, the, moon, and the stars." a retelling of an old Romanian (I think)folk tale. Any way, it's a great book which interweaves the story of a modern day painter with the folk tale.
HeroesRaskolnikov from Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment"

Hey Braindead. Susie, one of the friends listed at your site, is ill. A get well letter would do her heart good and cheer her up a bit. We live in a world that does not apriciate art. We must care for eachother. So leave a post on her board if you have time. Put a smile on her face when she gets home from the hospital. L John TOX

thnx for the feedback ...i have not done printmaking in a long time...have tons of lino really have to get back into soon kinda got distracted with the photography. :o)...can't wait to see your smaller work....keep me updated when u have them done...would like to view them. many thnx and happy halloween shaz .

BraindeadAesthetic

For woodcuts I usually use #2 select pine boards, left over from housing rehabs, or any found board. The lino cuts were all from purchased lino blocks but I am curretly using professional grade linoleum flooring I cut and glue down. I do not have a press, I use a baren or a burnishing tool on the prints. I've done prints which are 3 foot by four foot by hand!!!! I takes more than an hour to pull each print.
