| Biography | I'm a British expatriate (Welsh, actually). I have lived for most of my adult life in Germany after coming here originally to sing opera. I retired from the stage a few years ago but am still very active in many fields, including conducting my two choruses and writing all the arrangments for them, writing for a school book publisher and occasionally for myself (!), translating for various clients (including a couple of universities) and of course painting, which has been a passion all my life but only an intensive pursuit for the last eight years or so. |
| Interests | I love books, theatre, art exhibitions, good food, music of all kinds, shopping and congenial company. I also love driving my little car and try to visit "home" at least once a year. None of this is in any particular order. |
| Music | All kinds. My choruses sing popular songs in barbershop style and/or swing. My new chorus is now about 4 months old we have already had a successful singout! I sang over 100 opera roles during my stage career, including many Wagner and Verdi roles and parts such as Carmen and Joan of Arc. Those were the days. |
| Films | I'm not really a cinema-goer. I hate it when the volume is deafening. I usually wait till films are shown on TV. |
| Television | I watch a couple of soaps and a lot of who dunits. Some comedy is quite good, but the German sense of humour is more slapstick than mine. |
| Books | Books on art, science, psychology etc and I love Alexander McCall Smith's novels. I still reread Dorothy Sayers from time to time and scan Amazon at least once a week for anything new in the waay of crime or satirical novels. |
| Heroes | My father for his courage, my son for his wisdom. |
