Interests and Personality

BiographyEverything that you will see here is through out my entire life. Old and new. I am here in hopes that I can find others who share my interests and want to share ideas and inspirations. I do not want to just be on here to show what I have done. I would really like to find others of all ages out there who want to talk and actually get to know me. :) I am always looking for something new to learn and someone who wants to teach me what they know about art is ALWAYS welcome to talk with me. :) I have a wonderful husband and wonderful kids who I love deeply. :)
InterestsI love art. Drawing is the usually the last thing that I think about and it is sometimes the first thing I think of when I wake up. Sometimes it is as if it haunts me! I do not get in enough practice due to my little ones but I do what I can. I read a lot. I love to watch Ghost Hunters on Syfy. :) I believe that I am a very deep thinker. I am emotional and very caring but not naive. I collect Angels and I love God and the ocean.
MusicI love James Horner, Hans Zimmer, John Williams.. etc. I like to listen to Classical, Blue Grass and Folk. Depeche Mode, Matchbox Twenty, Sarah Mclachlan, Dido, Enya, Enigma, etc. etc. ;)
FilmsI try to avoid the chick flicks but I really like PS I love you. I love movies like Big Fish and the five people you meet in Heaven. Great Expectations is also one of my favorites. I do not watch horror flicks with killers and suffering because it makes me sad. I cried when the dad was burned in The Hills have eyes! They break my heart.
TelevisionGhost hunters. NatGeo. History Channel. Disney and Spongebob because the kids L-O-V-E it.
BooksLeonardo's Note Book. I like inspirational books. Tuesdays with Morrie. I love Fyodor Dostoevsky books! The Brothers Karamazov is one of my most favorites! Crime and punishment too. Started reading the Idiot but have not had much time to finish it. Have a couple more... Still sitting on my shelf.
HeroesI do not really know if I have any heroes anymore. I have many people that I look up to but do not know if I would call them Heroes. I believe that Jesus is a great role model and God is up there watching me.

Hey Frankie. Thanks for the nice compliments. I still think my art is a work in progress so I keep pushing away at it. I know what you are saying about projects that seem to drag on. That's why I moved over from watercolor to pastel. It is much faster for me. I generally try to put so much detail in my watercolor and that's probably good but it seems to drag on forever. I can only paint for so many hours a day because of a degenerative disc and I don't like spending many days at one painting. Seem to lose the inspiration and drive after a while. Do what you can.

Hey Frankie. Have you checked out A great source for people looking for inspiration and honing their art Enjoyed reading your background, I also like Big Fish, one of my all time favorites. Don't know how inspiring or insightful I might be but I welcome you to visit my personal site Keep at it. If you have time to read you have time for art..well maybe.

I have this group that I have started on Facebook... Maybe some of you would like to join it?

Thank you for the nice words, Frankie! I have been painting icons for 30 years and now more than ever, people are gaining a deeper appreciation for this art form. A few weeks ago, the Ecumenical Patriarch of the Orthodox Church was interviewed by Bob Simon of 60 Minutes. One point has Simon in Cappodocia in Turkey. The icons are painted on the walls are over 1000 years old in churches that are literally carved out of the side of mountains. I hope you can take a look.

Hi Frankie :) Yes I've had the same problems with private messages... looks like the site has a few kinks to iron out :) Hope you can find me now. Kate x

Hello again Frankie, the most important thing about painting and Art is to enjoy it! There are many ways to paint, one can paint without drawing or one can spend a great deal of time struggling for perfection the main thing is dear to enjoy your Art! You have the talent, you have the ability and you have the passion that is all an artist ever needs. Hold one of your paintings facing the mirror and look at the reflection and you will see exactly what needs changing; for me, a good drawing makes a good painting. I taught myself by copying Old Master many artist do this. Don't stress yourself, relax and enjoy your Art. There is nothing wrong of squaring off a picture you want to copy many Artist do this, I use it. Relax enjoy you Art and practice. best regards Anthony.

It seems that I have been left "private messages" and I would love to respond to whomever wrote them but I can not. It says that the user is deleted. Every time anyone leaves me a private message it says this. So if you have left me one and I did not respond, I am sorry. I just couldn't. :( Kate, I see that you have left me one and I thank you ever so much for your words. :) I would love to keep in touch with you but I am not sure where you are! :)
