BiographyMakepeaceArt is the art of Amanda Makepeace: I'm a self-taught artist, who grew up in a family that nutured my creative talents. I began drawing, almost obsessively, when I was 8 years old. My earliest influences were of course my mother (also with a talent for drawing) and Georgia O'Keefe - whom my mother admired. I started painting in my teens, but was put off by many art teacher's methods. So I mostly kept to myself. My art became a very personal and private journey and it was only in 2003 that I began sharing and eventually selling my art. If there was one theme that prevails in my art it would be images and moments from the natural world. I've always been very close to nature so this isn't any big surprise. But the ways in which I portray it vary from abstract to traditional. I just moved back to the USA after living in the UK for 4 years. www.amandamakepeace.com

hi Amanda, thanks for your comments on my painting. 'juncture' is one of the cooler paintings i have made, less chaotic than the others - all the energy is based around where the lines (borders) meet each other. i have been looking at your work, i think it's great - it deals with the things in nature (in the universe) that are there but that are the most spectacular things that are there. i am thinking mainly of the 'celestial' series, i think it conjures up the curiosity we all have about whats out there, what is it that causes these brilliant effects of light - and how beautiful it all is. i really enjoyed looking at your work amanda.
