Interests and Personality
| Biography | I was born in Eastern Cape, South Africa and grew up in the town of Oudtshoorn - part of the Little Karoo - a landscape of intense colours. I loved art and painting from an early age, but for many years practiced it as a hobby. After finishing school I studied art, but did not finish the course. I then started working in the health industry. Throughout the years I worked in many different fields of the health industry. In time I became interested in alternative health - what attracted me was the holistic approach and that the person is actively involved in his/her own healing.
I did various courses in energy work (Reiki, Shambhala). In 2006 I went through a healing crises - after examining my life, I decided to focus on using my gifts to celebrate life and to encourage others who have similar issues. |

About my work:
I would describe my paintings as spiritual art and energetic imagery. Colours are what I enjoy most about painting. Colours form a vibrational energy that the user can share. My paintings are reflections of the changes I went through - my spiritual aspirations and journey. I hope that they will encourage/uplift others who shared similar experiences. My message is simple - we are multidimensional beings who can free ourselves of our limiting beliefs - if we dare to face our fears.
I portray the human form as spirit, energy and light. To me, we are light enfolded by flesh.
I`ve grouped my paintings into themes. I love runes, so I’ve chosen runic symbols as themes.
The Isa series – The Isa rune is winter, cold and ice. It represents rest before activity, potential and possibility. It’s the still form before the irresistible force.
The Isa paintings are images from nature – figures and landscapes, as metaphors.
The Jera series – The Jera rune is change, development and reward. The reward comes from not fighting the changes, but accepting it. In the Jera paintings the figures are morphing into bird-like shapes. Some of the paintings are representing humans as energy forms.
The Eihwaz series, which symbolises a transformation process – is about light - letting your light shine.
The next is called Berkana - the rune for new beginnings, growth and connecting to others and sharing nourishment.
The latest one I`m working on is Gebo - gift. I frequently use triangular frames for my paintings - for me triangles are symbolic of the many facets of humans -the physical, emotional and spiritual. I like to desribe my paintings with Haiku.

Hi! Listen, I have about 6 months to prepare for my first solo show, and I was hoping you could assist me. I will need to have at least 30 paintings to display. If you could, with as much honesty as possible, please name 2 of my completed pieces that you feel I should definitely show. Also, please share 3 things with me, based on my current work, (remember be honest), that you would recommend to me for improving my art in general. I am fine if you post this on my public board because it may be interesting to others. The feedback from other artist on this website is very valuable to me. Thanks! ~Marianne

Hi. Thank you. Very nice to meet you. I like your work too -Healing hands is my favourite - I love light in paintings, a reflection of the light inside us and around us. I find the Shaman painting very interesting as well.

Hallo
Thank you! I`m so exited to be part of the project. "Receiving love" was created after doing a Shambhala Reiki course. A lady with the name Fatien shared her experience with us - it was a very moving moment.

Hi Maristha, Welcome to your site. Your work is gorgeous. I love all of them. If I had to pick a favorite, it might be "Receiving love a la Fatien, part of Jera series", but it is difficult to decide.
