BiographyPrimarily a self-taught artist, Maureen holds a minor in Art History, which included a summer semester in fine arts training. She studied painting on silk under Hilary Scanlon and fell in love with the media. Maureen worked with silk for many years but currently has turned her focus to drawing and painting. Artist Statement Drawing and painting relax me. I enjoy watching the subject 'come to life' on the blank sheet of paper. It's fun to try out new methods and media. I'm still working on refining my style. If I must classify it, I'd call it eclectic. My style changes according to the media I'm using. For example, when I work with silk and dyes my style is very loose and free-flowing. My florals on silk borrow heavily from the chinese brush style of painting. My graphite drawings are more tightly controlled. My style is still somewhat loose and free. I often use a stompe or tortillon to 'draw' with creating a smooth, blended effect.

Hi Mau:) very nice thank you, I find the colours of the earth very close: ochres, siennas, umbers, and sepias. They beautifully render the mood of flowing time. Yours art is very delicate and sensitive. Best for you.
