Interests and Personality

BiographyMy Interest In Apes and Wildlife Art started as a child watching Lowland Gorillas at the Los Angeles Zoo; this fascination grew into a passion for Apes and Monkeys that has lasted a life time. While living in San Diego in the early ninety's I took my passion for the greater Apes and Monkeys to the next level and began a three year artistic study of Lowland Gorilla individuals and their family's at the San Diego Zoo.
InterestsThe very word - GORILLA - holds me in awe: "Half man and half beast." Early 19Th century drawings usually depicted Gorillas looking more like King Kong Monsters. It is my desire to convey to the viewer of my artwork a thought best described by naturalist George B. Schaler of the Wildlife Conservation Society: No one looks into a Gorillas eyes- intelligent, gentle, vulnerable can remain unchanged. This is what I want to convey to my viewers the spirit of humanity in these animals. That I love.

Thanks for the feedabck Rafiki, glad to see someone who loves apes, I do too, my dad always had a real fascination with gorillas, and I grew up with images of them, books about them and have visited zoos to observe gorillas many times. I was lucky enough to see some baboons in the wild a couple of years ago, what an amazing experience! Keep up the lovely work....Clare

Thanks for looking at my portfolio, Rafiki.

I just finished a creation called "Spiritual Rebirth", tell me what you think.

contacted an artist guild this summer for my hometown. I keep spacing the meetings. I've so involved in my Mom's Physical therapy sessions and redoing the outside of the house that I keep forgetting to look on the calender for the Artist guild meetings. I have poison ivy all over my face!!! My boss wants a company photo of us tomorrow for the annual report and I look like someone beat me up from the poison ivy. That's how my whole year has been going. I hope I feel better after I do healing session for a friend. everytime I do a healing for someone else I get a healing too. Have fun at your exhibitions.

Send me one of your gallery exhibit angels my way. Pray that God will open some doors for me and my artwork for exhibitions. I'll send prayers to you to keep you calm during your busy time.

Thank you Anita, I sure appreciate your prayers and encouragement. I hope to do more shows too and need to paint more. Take care of you. That is pretty exciting about all of the shows you are doing, you go girl : ) Are you still on Shoutlife much?

Hey thanks for leaving a comment on my art. I haven't had time to look at everyone's portfolios, but I will soon. So I'll take a look at your work too. Thanks for the welcome. Ken Shubert

Hi Rafki,You are very welcome regarding the well deserved comments. Take care, Ian.

Hi Anita, you changed your picture again : ). I wish I could say I have been busy being an artist. I have painted two new paintings but am looking for a job mostly out in CA and here in Florida. It is slow going.. Are you doing more shows lately?
