BiographyHello Art Inthusisists I am Carolyn Shaw. I dedicated myself at the age of 3yrs to becoming an artist. By 21 I had become professional. Although largely self taught I studied with some well known artist-teachers. I work in all medias, subject matters, styles, and techniques. I do everything from fine art, murals to caricatures. My speciality is portraits. I love portraits because of the complexity and because there is no two faces which are the same. I like to capture the inner beauty of my subject. I owned and operated the art concession at MovieLand Wax Museum in Ca. for a time where I and my employees did thousands of portraits for travellers. I have also done portraits at Knotts and all the other So. Ca. parks. I have taught painting since the early 70's. I love it and am very good at it. Having taught myself I know what my student are going through what they need to learn and can save them years of trial and error and frustration. My students consistently win the ribbon.
InterestsI am a single mother of 6. one daughter and 5 sons. My youngest twin sons are in the Navy. I live in the high desert in Ca. I have an artstudio-classroom where I spend most all my time painting with my little Yorkie close by. There is a patio adjacent with rose garden and fish pond very serene and peaceful nice atmosphere. for painting.
MusicI love all good music, very fond of guitar. Still like rock, old and new. My son is really good on guitar and bass.
FilmsDont go very often, wait til they are showing on tv.I will not watch sci-fi. love stories or anything with talking machines.
TelevisionI love Dancing With The Stars, Fond of all the CSI and the forensic shows, I like psyc-dramas and thrillers hate love stories
BooksI don't read a lot any more but like to, spend most of my time painting or on the computer where I am working on a manuscript about my misadventures on on-line dating sites " hot-stuff"
HeroesI had a hero once. He was my son Robert. He died valiently of aids at the age of 34. Straight but reckless.

Hello Carolyn, reading your biography section, you really sound an interesting person. Like you, I love portraits although I have to paddle a hard way to reach your way :)) also I like your work especially portraits. I really like the eyes in a portrait - they are the window of the heart/ soul.. Bit by bit I will reach my goals as you did. You were so inspiring to me.
