Background and Lifestyle
Interests and Personality
| Biography | Most important to me is where my life has taken me rather than what I have done, my credits etc... I don’t fit neatly into any category which describes or markets an artist. the label is not important to me..it is their story not mine. I paint what I love in the only way I know how, without apology.
My art explores our connection to all life and the nature of the feminine.
For me the process is more important than striving to be a good painter...whatever that means..... painting is my teacher.
I like to think that my paintings are peaceful reflections on the beauty and timeless primal knowing available to us when we experience a powerful connection with nature. It is a bridge between worlds, the Outer to the Inner and beyond into the Infinite - the Mystery which I depict as the Veil.
We all have our stories. I prefer that my images stand on their own and resonate within the hearts of those who see them. |
| Interests | [cont'd] If the images inspire a deeper understanding of our need to protect, to truly love and nurture all life in ALL its forms - I am happy...
interests...mmm...
Anything that promotes compassion, kindness and peace in the world.....the nature of humanity.......traditional cultures...the transpersonal and healing potential of the creative process.... + of course everything to do with animals and nature.... |
| Music | I love music particularly tribal rythms. Dancing inspires my life and my passion to paint. My music collection is varied- mainly Reggae, Soul,, R&B. Reggae being my number one.... |
| Books | Anything about Art as Healing and Animals, photography of people's from other lands and cultures. The journeys of spiritual and inspired people. |
| Heroes | Susan Seddon Boulet, human and non-human animal rights activists, Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield and Johnny Clegg, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Ghandi etc etc etc!!!! and anyone who loves life, plays like a child and feels passion in both the ups and downs - Ya Have To Know That 'luv, kindness, compassion' are the Muse of Creativity..in the dark and the light!!!! |

Hi Blaze, thanks for the visit and the great message. Have been up to my neck with preparing for my upcoming exhibition with my father in September. So many things to take care of. He has left it all to me to organise as he now close to 80. Infact that is why we are have our first exhibition together, he will be 80 in Sept. So I havent got much time to go online for the time being. I have been very busy painting of course as I have to have a good selection to choose the best from. Fingers crossed that this will finally be the moment I ve been work towards. Drop in again from time to time as I may have more works uploaded.

Hi Blaze: Great to hear that your selling art!!! I guess that means your new studio is working out just fine. It sounds really great where you live, so life is good! I've been working on many projects around this house. Have not had the opportunity to paint with a focused mine set so I have put it aside for a bit. I should spend some time in here one day this week because the art work on this site, from so many talented artists like yourself, always inspires me and gets me going. I will try to post some progress soon and thanks for checking in on me, your sun scorched buddy from Arizona, Mike

Hi Blaze, I am writing to let you know that I am deleting my account. As you know, I am on this site a lot...too much. I have learned a great deal and have enjoyed connecting with people. I just have to step out of my virtual reality for a while and get back to living life and hopefully painting. Keep creating and best of luck with the gallery and your new space. ~Marianne

Hi Blaze! Long time no see. I've been away some time. It is again a pleasure to experience your work. A shame I can't read all the words in your pastels. Even so i enjoy the feelings it gives me ;-)
You are something special.

lol.... I have been playing a fair bit on facebook.....The photo was taken at the opening night of my Melbourne show...Great news about selling 3 works!! I hate commissions they bring me to the point of a nrvous breakdown lol or atleast they did until I changed the rules to suit me!!! Now I state the Brief must be Very Brief & I have total artistic freedom after that. I also charge nearly double what I use to & what I do is post them up on my artmajeur site as works in progress & with weekly updates, so the client can view & comment....It is also good for me that way cos it is a dangerous process (can stuff it up at any time lol).....Also it seems to work in scaring potential clients off unless they are REAL serious about it.... Yes I hate them lol. Good to hear you are close to being open... The off season helps you ease in to it & iron out any kinks before the silly season comes round again... Watch out for a new series of work I am planning regarding a certain long distance muse.....Mwah! xxxxxx

Hey Blaze , I find commissions really hard , they just sap all my creativity , i imagine its like being an architect with great vision and only having limited funds to design it. I had a lady the other day who wanted a self portrait and she bought a colour swatch with her of the colours of the room it was going in , phew that was hard , i said I was too busy , it was a lot of money i know i should have just done it in yellow as she wanted but i knew it would be too much of a compromise and i would end up hating my pastels and being embarrassed to sign my name to it.
I hope you are well , you sound busy , is it sunny still there , we have frost in the morning and then it just struggles to a 12 degree sun , but so so nice to feel it.
sending you love
k

I am doing some painting. I'll let you know if I post it. No intent on working on the big canvas until after I move. I already have enough canvases to move, and don't want to deal with a really large one, also it may be to messy to get involved in with the possibility of a house showing. So, that's just another reason to look forward to the move. I wish I could be there and take your class and maybe help you out a bit with your place. You sound very busy, but eventually it will all come together nicely, I'm sure. Thanks for the references of Michelle Cassou and Barbara Ganim, I may pick up a couple of their books. Oh, and thanks also for the happy thoughts, well needed and acepted. :) ~Mare
