| Biography | Christian Alvez is an artist and a community advocate. He moved to the U.S. from Cebu City, Philippines in 1986. He studied drawing and painting briefly at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco where his work has been selected for exhibit at the Academy of Art University’s Fall and Spring Shows, receiving the Faculty’s Choice Award.
He is the receipient of the "Best in Show" award for the Gender and Sexuality exhibit by The You In Me at the Box Gallery for the piece "Adam's Apples" . Other exhibits have included the California State University, Fullerton Makipaka Art exhibit and Day Without Art at the Asian American Theater Center, Los Angeles in conjunction with the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team. Christian resides in Oakland, California. |
