Interests and Personality

BiographyBorn just after WW11 in 1948. I grew up in Manchester, England. In those days it was a city of factories, coalmines and iron foundries. I attended St Brigid’s Boys’ school in Beswick, Manchester and left at the age of 15 years with no qualifications other than my leaving certificate; although I did win a scholarship to enter The Manchester Art College at the age of eleven, but for personal reasons I didn't go. Ever since I can remember I have loved art and painted constantly. As an adult I enrolled at an adult art school in the city and enjoyed my time there immensely. Nevertheless, I class myself as a self taught artist and learned to paint in oils and other media by copying the old masters. Now at the age of 58 I am retired and can devote more of my time to the occupation I love best - art.
InterestsPhotography is a big interest of mine and taking photographs has always helped my painting. But sense the age of digital I have found a new way to express myself in this media as an art form.
MusicMy music is quite varied and I can listen to classical one minute and rock the next depending on my mood. But one of my favorite tracks at present is The Beatles "Mr Moonlight".
FilmsI like mainly war films and westerns but I have been known to sleep through musicals, lol. Black Hawk Down is a favorite of mine in the war genre and Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid is a great western with a great music score by Bob Dylan.
TelevisionI like the British drama and there are lots to choose from. Pie In The Sky; Kavanagh QC; Life On Mars; and on a lighter night, Lovejoy to name but a few.
BooksI read the classics when I was younger and enjoyed Dickens and Collins but for adventure I like Bernard Cornwall's "Sharpe" series that was actually made into a drama starring Sean Bean.
HeroesThere are so many heroes in every era it is almost impossible to choose one. But if push came to shove I'd have to say my hero undoubtedly is Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Blair 'Paddy' Mayne of the British SAS of World War 2 fame.

I am sure I do not have to tell you that you have talent so I will save it. :) You seem to paint the same things that I like paint.. People and the ocean... :) I like them... I need more practice with people though.
