Interests and Personality

BiographyI am currently studying in my Third year of a Ba Fine Art Degree. This has led on from leaving school after A Level and completing a Foundation Degree in Fine Art.
InterestsMy practise primarily involves painting and recently includes photography and the exploration of the merging between the two mediums. I have always been drawn to the darker aspects of our world but when viewed from a beautiful and uncomfortable angle. I feel this is an everpresent aspect to my whole body of work both formally and within its concept. As an anti or post-feminist I have been looking at the portrayl of distressed or sorrowful women throughout history in art and literature. These victimised images have bugun to be applied as a desired and sexualised image of a woman, by using my own portrait and body in my paintings.
MusicMusic and Live music especially are other passions of mine. I am drawn to melodic and progressive metal bands. My two favouries being Opeth and Pain of Salvation.
FilmsSo so so many films..... But most recent films I can think of: There Will be Blood, Revolutionary Road, Let the Right One In, District 9, Zombieland!, Inglourious Basterds... so so many All of the Studio Ghibli's, including Ponyo I can't even contemplate thinking about the millions of amazing films there are. (I work in a DVD Rental Store)
TelevisionI don't generally watch that much tv but Desperate Romantics was brilliant
BooksWhilst being a student I am constantly surrounded by mountains of reference books, that when I have finished I am looking forward to reading from beginning to end. Novels- ..1984, the C'J Samson books, I am desperatly still working my way through The Lord of the Rings and unashamedly the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles. (Real vampires-not this Twilight rubbish)
HeroesHeroes...well I worship and adore Daniel Gildenlow and Mikael Akerfeldt for their talent and visons which are my greatest inspirations from today.. But Artists - Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Edvard Munch, Marlene Dumas, Cecily Brown, Rebecca Horn, Cindy Sherman.. Another list that could go on forever

Hi Charmaine, beautiful sculptures. I wish I had the opportunities to do that when I was 19. But I just bought some clay...not sure what to do with it...but I have it to give it a try at something. I'm hoping for it to form itself into something profound. We'll see. Oh, and we have all Miyazaki films.

Hi Charmaine, how have you been? BTW, pls do check on this real & exciting site, share it w/ your family & friends:

Sat in the garden and began reading Sophies World.....I've so far decided that I'm a Fatalist, Skeptic, Agnostic, Realist......which therefore means Socrates was right all along - I know nothing! my head hurts now so I won't read anymore for a bit (besides, bits of Monty Python sketches and ditties keep popping into my head and putting me off - bloody show creeps in everywhere!!!) s'later x

I here recently. Would be very glad to acquaint you with the Enamel mosaic and to hear your response. Andrey

Print making is a love of mine. I love to print on pure silk and have perfected my own process. Your 'Nature' prints are fine. Best regards, Robbie
