Interests and Personality

BiographyI am a proudly South African artist - born in 1984 and home-grown in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. I have always loved drawing and find personal peace and freedom in the creation process, especially when experimenting and combining different mediums. After studying Graphic Design at the Vaal University of Technology and attaining my B Tech with Cum Laude, I worked and lived in Johannesburg and then Pretoria (or Tshwane), before settling in Cape Town, where I now work as artist in my studio at home or on site armed with my camera.
InterestsI have a deep love and affinity for nature and animals, which inspires and guides most of my creative work. Other influences, interests and inspiration for my work includes people, other artists, magazines, film, performance art, spirituality, culture, heritage, communication theory, subversive culture and the concept of change. This results in a varied set of influences on my art and creative work - which ranges widely between digital illustration, mixed media painting, drawing, assemblage, sculpture and installation. Combining my love for nature and a compassion for people and animals with personal creative expression, I especially love creating landscapes, working as land artist, and creating sculptures and installations from natural materials such as rocks, wood and sand.
MusicMostly local music. But some favourites include Tidal Waves, The Narrow, Seether, Depeche Mode, Manu Chao, Knave, Straw, Exit Stranger, Butterfly Effect, Twin Dragon and Radiohead
FilmsDocumentaries, "feel-good movies", dance movies, experimental film, drama.
BooksUsed to love horror stories, but like 'drama' stories, real life situation novels, spiritual guide books, medical mysteries and anything out of the ordinary.
