Interests and Personality
| Biography | After doing an arts foundation course in Nelson, Lancashire I was seduced by the theatre and went on to do a degree in Theatre Design at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
I was waylaid by TV, Theatre and film propmaking for almost 15 years. My chosen medium for my portraiture was originally pastel, but I started working in oils in the late 1990's and haven't picked up my pastels since. However since discovering the joys of digital portaiture using Photoshop my oils too have taken a back seat.
You can find my old website published in the book 'The Perfect Digital Portfolio' by Ava Publishing.
My work has been seen in the 2nd series of BBC's Doctor Who in the episode 'Girl in the Fireplace. I painted the actress Sophia Myles as Madame de Pompadour.

Thanks. I really like your work as well, for the same reasons. I enjoy how you keep things simple. Are the red background ones all computer manipulated?

I love your portraits, especially these in gallery 2 (beautiful color, great character observation) and I like how you manage to combine old with modern. Great! Thanks for sharing! Ursula

I love your style really original, remind me a bit of Frida Kahlo, great colours, compositions and fantasticly imaginative and dreamlike rendering of your subjects...you can paint me any day! Clare

Thank you again for your lovely comments.
Hi Pearlrain, they're a kind of homage to my heroes of art history. This kind of art really gets my heart pumping and to paint them is so much more enjoyable and the results far more decorative than your bog standard portrait.

Very fine work. I think the Wedding Diptych in particular is wonderful.

This might sound really plebian, but are all your portraits sort of like parodies? I like the finesse in these.

Thanks for all the kind words. They are much appreciated - we artists need our egos massaging every now and then!
