| Biography | I am a Japanese-born Sydney based artist. I studied at National Art School. The use of large canvas size is an essential element, providing a dramatic visual template to my work. I am constantly curious about the contemporary Japanese art's relationship with Wstern contemporary, and traditional Japanese art history and the dynamic of Eastern and Western cultural exchange and merging of their art.
I am striving for strengthening my unique voice in my art works in which I desire to offer a viewer a space to feel and ponder a moment away from his/her daily life and I would like my paintings to evoke stillness, joy, tranquility, peacefulness,sensuality,vulnerability, all these emotions and feelings of delicate side of life. I desire my art works to encourage viewer to just "be" with my paintings or "be" with themselves. |
