Interests and Personality

BiographyBradley Hoback is a Colorado native who lives in Conifer, Colorado just outside Denver. Brad works exclusively in watercolor. Bradley, an up-and-coming painter, is a self-taught artist who is inspired by masters such as Remington, Russell, RC Gorman, JD Challenger, O’Keefe, Terping and others. Brad’s love for the Southwest and its lifestyles are represented in much of his work. Painting primarily from photographs captured while traveling, his images record a moment in time through his use of color, light, texture and unique angles. He generally works wet-into-dry, patiently waiting for one wash to dry before applying the other. Using large brushes and sponges to achieve color and texture and 5/0 round tip brushes to achieve the tight detail work as seen in many of his images. Each piece begins with a good balanced drawing and proceeds from there, utilizing burnt umber, yellow ochre, and burnt sienna for base color foundations.

Your paintings are wonderful...especially love 'prickly'! I have way too many cacti in my garden...bless them for agreeing to live in this wet heat with me.

I have only recently started painting the southwestern scene I am in the Army and normally from the east coast but I have been in El Paso, TX for 9 months and have fell in love with the New Mexico and Arizona scenery when I travel there almost every weekend. I have a lot to learn from you your southwest art is great!
