|Biography||Jan Blencowe recieved her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, from Caldwell College, New Jersey in 1984. Jan has a distinct love for outdoor landscape painting known as painting "en plein air" a French phrase meaning "in the open air". After moving to Connecticut the beauty and diversity of the coastal Connecticut landscape became the focus of her work fueled by her love of nature and desire for wild places and spaces to be preserved. Jan works in both oils and acrylics. Recent awards include a painting selected to represent her home state of CT in the Paint America Mini Top50 of 2008. This collection of 50 paintings one representing each state in the union will travel the country for a year. Jan is a signature member of The Society of American Landscape Painters, and a member of the American Impressionist Society and the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. Her work is represented by several leading galleries in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
