| Biography | I work mostly within the surrealism and abstraction genres, design and other expressive elements are also interesting to me. Oil painting and mixed media drawings are my vehicles for expression. Much of my work is dark, some of it is about mortality and our difficulty in accepting it, while also being simultaneously interested in it. Suffering, pain and the tolerance needed to endure it play a big part in my life and art. Searching the dark chasms, finding ways to connect & morph these seemingly ill fitting elements and juxtapositions into some cohesive whole.
Nature and our relationship to it provides endless inspiration, the cycle of all living/dying things, our dominance, the price we might pay. Realism is at times the starting point, from there the subconscious takes over, allowing things to develop and evolve, working with the materials, exploring textures and layers.... flicking back and forth in semi subconsciousness...finding the balance.... |
