Interests and Personality
| Biography | Does This work?
I was born in Texas and moved to Florida with the rest of my artistic family. My childhood was filled with creative activities which fostered my creativity. My father is now a professional sculptor, and my Mother is a painter. I learned an immense amount from them, from an appreciation of contemporary art, to specific techniques, to tips on craftsmanship. Growing up in that kind of environment gave me a great artistic foundation. Building on that early structure, I have developed my own vision so I can say that now I am self-taught. I did receive quite a few awards in high school, but have largely experimented on my own to create the work I do now.
I create mixed-media abstract paintings in which I explore my interest in the passage of time, and of the inevitable changes. I am fascinated by old crumbling buildings and walls where nature has started to reclaim its hold. |

I get my best ideas for new work in that relaxing moment just before sleep, when my mind clears and allows me to see my inner vision. Starting with an idea or design plan I sometimes stick to it sometimes I deviate. I work with multiple layers of texture and paint creating three dimensional intricate surface. I use washes of paint which are worked into the crevices or removed leaving barely a trace behind. Using sanders and power tools, I smooth some surfaces andleave some areas rough. All of this creates the time weathered look which recreates the essence of change. |

Hello Shannon, "Thru The Trees" is a beautiful piece. It has an interesting effect, I had thought that it was painted on glass. Very nice. Please let me know when you post any new pieces.
